For the Hookah fans out there!
Around the Montreal downtown area (lets say from Crescent Street to Guy Street) you have 5 Hookah lounge that you can visit.
The first one, Shehrazad is one of the most popular hookah place I must say. As a Hookah fan myself I find their shisha average and the food good if you want to just hang out with friends and have a limited budget you will find their price affordable. You can find Lebanese food there and a good ambiance. I would not recommend this place for people older than 25 years old. Lots of young adult hang there and its you can tell that the atmosphere is rather 'childish'.

Second Hookah place would be Habibi, this place is little pricier than Shehrazad but still affordable. You can enjoy a good show every Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and I believe also Sundays. They have a baladi dancer that comes around 11pm on those days followed by a DJ. Habibi is also a great place for a fancy meeting, a party or simply a gathering of friends. It is also the only Hookah place that sells alcohol downtown. They don't have much flavor choice for Hookah, that fact being said makes their Hookah 'cleaner' to the flavor and they don't mix them. You will also find a more 'distinguished' environment there since it's a little pricer, it makes the 'kids' go somewhere else.
*Also so have extermely good food

The third place would be Al Dar, there you have a more relaxed ambiance then the two I just mentioned. They have a little terrasse in the back of the restaurant/lounge and also one in the front. It has two level so if you want to study or talk in private you can always ask to be moved on the first floor which is empty most of the time. Their pricing for the Hookah is the same as the other places and they have a wider selection of food. The people hanging there are aged from 19 to up. Their Hookah tastes really good and they have a wide selection of flavored tabacco.

Fourth place is Toot, I would only recommend this to calm people that don't like lousy places and for 2-3 people meetings. Reason is the following, the owner is an old man working there from the opening to the kick out time. He is extremely kind and the reason why I say that it is better to go there with groups of 3 people and less is because most customers there are regulars and once a habit is installed there you'll feel bad disturbing them. I would suggest for student to go study there if they like to smoke while studying because it is extemely calm.

The last but not the least is Arabesque but I wouldn't recommend to go there since the first and last time I went there I really didn't like the way the Hookah tasted. It is a small place for a Hookah-café style. You will mostly find students there since it is near the Concordia University. You can always go take a look because someone's opinion is always different from other's perspective. Who knows maybe you will like it!
